Just a note, your hackergotchi is a bit too wide: probably an accidental setting in Inkscape’s exporting options. It looks like you exported everything, instead of just the page.

1. There is no more probationary period in the new mentoring process. I am not sure what they were talking about.

2. We (FAmSCo) would *love* to hear about the new to-be-mentors and other suggestions in general, but someone from LATAM has to take initiative and come forward with the names/ideas.

Congrats Jared. Good luck in your new job as Fedora Project Leader. I can’t think of anyone better to fill Paul Frields shoes. Work bought me the same laptop you will be very happy with it.

i share the opinion that communication and contributions back should be transparent – we do know what other countries in LATAM are doing, but as example brazil contributors work on brazil-spins – report in brazil-portuguese language … so the benefit of contributions back to the Fedora World is not really visible – so why is it good to invest our efforts in Brazil if we get nothing back to the rest of the world, what can we learn or get back from them? Or am i wrong?

the mentoring process is described here

we have no 30 day probation period anymore since the mentoring process was established 2 years ago – althought the mentoring period can be stretched as long as the candidate is not ready to stay on his own feed.

we also work on further improvement of the Mentoring Process with a Mentors Survey that is currently running.

I would like to see the regional FAmSCo Member Maria Leandro involved in this discussion!

Sounds like things are going swimmingly in Santiago! Jared, it’s so great that you could start off your work as FPL by getting to know an important part of the Fedora community. I’m sure you’ll have an energizing conference and bring back lots of new ideas and friendships.
